Calendar of Firsts

2015_may_joe_main

I love going for walks in the spring. I notice something new every day. Last week, I noticed that the crab apple tree by the mail box is in bloom. Yesterday, I saw some baby garter snakes wriggling in the grass. This year, I decided to write down all the “first” things I see when I’m out walking – first blossoms in the spring, first strawberries in the summer, first yellow leaves in the fall. It’s fun to look back and see when all those firsts happened.

Grab a calendar and keep track of all the “firsts” in your neighborhood. Or make your own calendar by stapling paper together. Draw some nature illustrations for it.
